Living Well
Crucial to the idea behind Aspire is that living well needs to become a habit. That on most occasions we need to make good choices about what we consume; that being slim and fit doesn’t mean constantly dieting; in fact being slim and fit means never going on a diet again! We all have high days and holidays and food is a crucial part of our culture. Aspire nutrition advice aims to help clients balance these needs with those of their bodies actual food requirements.
Along with increasing your activity levels nutrition plays a vital role in fitness. As part of your programme Jane offers nutritional advice.
This can be hints and tips incorporated into your training session or a full analysis of your current diet, a written programme tailored to your needs along with various assessments of your progress using bodyfat measurements and a greater understanding of your diet related needs.

Water for Weight Loss
For years we’ve been told that increasing our consumption of water carries numerous health benefits. Often the evidence is anecdotal and subjective; “I feel tons better since I started carrying a bottle of Evian everywhere I go” or “My friends skin is great because she drinks two litres of water a day”. No one really knows how much water is the right amount and there is no evidence that drinking water frequently (such as in class at school) provides any health benefits. However last month a study was published showing that simply drinking two glasses of water before a meal might well reduce the calories the participants consumed at that meal. The study, presented to the American Chemical Society showed an improved weight loss of 5lbs over a 12 week period compared to a control group who also ate a low calorie diet but did not drink water before their meals.
If you’re trying to lose weight then surely this has got to be worth a try! It’s free, easily available and the evidence has been published by a scientific body with no vested interest in dieting. So, for the next 6 weeks, challenge yourself to down two 200ml glasses of water before each meal. In the study they did this three times a day at each main meal. Note that the water is acting as an appetite suppressant, not a direct weight loss agent - so be prepared to eat less!
Remember that it is theoretically possible to drink too much water, but if you take up this challenge and drink other beverages as normal you will not get anywhere near an excess.
