Over the years we have built an on-going relationship with a number of charities and we organise events each year to raise money for them.
Each Spring the "We Run! Hassocks" community running group organise a local charity Marathon. In 2010 and 2014 we raised £1200 for Sport Relief and in 2015 we raised over £500 for St Peter and St James Hospice. In 2016 we raised over £700 for St Peter and St James. Last year's event raised over £500 to help "Keep Perl's Parents By Her Side". This year we raised over £600 for Sport Relief once again.
We also hold a charity fund-raising awards party every year in January. All Aspire clients are invited; we provide the venue and some drinks and nibbles, we announce our award winners and hold a charity auction. All of the proceeds go to our chosen charities. Last year we raised over £1000 for St Peter and St James and for the Hassocks-based charity CCHF All About Kids. In January 2017 we raised over £1100 for St Peter and St James.
Jane and her husband Malcolm are also very proud to be patrons of the recently formed public health charity the Public Health Collaboration. This charity aims to influence government policy on dietary guidelines. The British Public have been loosely following the national dietary guidelines for the last 30 years and they have not worked; in this time the country has experienced an epidemic of obesity and type 2 diabetes. This is no coincidence and it is time for an overhaul of the recommendations for what we should eat. Both PHC and Aspire passionately belive that the essence of a healthy diet is to Eat Real Food that is lower in carbohydrates and higher in healthy fats. It is time to throw the cereals in the bin and return to something much closer to the diet that we evolved with. Aspire's clients have great success with this diet and we believe that the nation would be healthier as a result.
