We Run! Hassocks is a free community group promoting running for everyone in the local area.
On the 4th Friday of every month we organise the Hassocks Hash - a friendly set of local runs for all ages and all levels of runner - and our Facebook group provides a forum for advice, ideas and chat. Click on the We Run! image on the right of this page to join our group!
The group now has over 300 members. The youngest is 9 and the oldest is "somewhere over 60!". There is always expert advice on hand from the team of 5 UK Athletics registered run leaders.
Each spring we organise a charity event in which we run between 1 and 26.2 miles up and down Hassocks Hight Street. In 2014 the Hassocks Sport Relief Marathon raised over £700 for Sport Relief. In 2015 we raised over £500 for St Peter and St James Hospice. The 2016 event raised another £600 for the hospice and this year's event raised over £500 to help "Keep Perl's Parents By Her Side". In 2018 will will be raising money for Sport Relief once again.
For the last eight years we've gathered at 8am on Boxing Day to run from Jack and Jill windmills to Ditchling Beacon and back. The first year there were 5 of us and 2 dogs, this has built to the crowds you can see in the pictures below.
